Among the many Regenerative Skin treatments that we offer, Opus Plasma Treatment is quickly becoming my favorite child. Why?
Your face tells a story. A story of lazy summers in the sun, of smiles that made it to your eyes, or of trying hormones of puberty. Your skin can truly tell the stories of a life well-lived. But if the effects of time on your skin leave you wishing you could erase some of its trails, you may want to learn about skin resurfacing. Opus Plasma Treatment is the latest advanced energy technology that uses fractionated plasma energy to treat severe wrinkles, irregular skin texture, scars, and loose skin with significantly less downtime than other skin resurfacing treatments. The Opus treatment delivers energy to all layers of the skin: targeting the deep layers to remodel the collagen and improve elasticity, mid-layers to improve skin texture, and superficial layers to address skin tone. Opus is extremely adaptable allowing us to target specific areas such as around the mouth or eyes, or treat the whole face.
Skin resurfacing includes a number of different types of treatment all of which are designed to remove the damaged layers of skin so they can be replaced by new skin that is smoother, tighter, and more vibrant. Skin imperfections such as sunspots,  wrinkles, acne scars, laxity, color, and texture irregularities can all be reversed to different degrees with a variety of skin resurfacing treatments.
Some examples of skin resurfacing are dermabrasion, chemical peels, and laser treatments.
Historically CO2 lasers have been the gold standard for collagen remodeling, wrinkle or scar reduction, and skin tightening. CO2 laser treatments are still great for the appropriate candidates. But the challenge with CO2 is that the treatment is limited to lighter skin types, it has unacceptably long difficult down-times of swelling, blistering, oozing, and there is the potential risk of hyper- and hypo-pigmentation.
Opus Plasma™ is the next generation in skin resurfacing. It is a skin resurfacing treatment that combines radiofrequency with microplasma energy, treating a great variety of skin laxity and texture concerns, in a fast comfortable treatment with less downtime and long-lasting results.
Opus Plasma™ treats concerns such as wrinkles, scars, skin laxity, stretch marks, fine lines, and pigmentation. Opus addresses tough to treat areas like around the eyes, around the mouth, and under the chin, where the wrinkles are formed due to loss of skin elasticity and integrity. These areas are challenging because we can’t adequately fix the wrinkles by injecting fillers.  Fillers in these areas would create additional volume which can be further pulled down by gravity, making new unwanted lines and shadows.
The main goal of skin resurfacing using Opus Plasma™ is to reset the skin on a cellular level so it behaves much younger than it is. Although we can not stop the process of aging, we can turn back the skin’s age with skin resurfacing.
Opus Plasma™ delivers results like an ablative CO2 laser plus a gentle peel but is safe in all skin types. Most Opus treatments are quick, usually 15-30 min, comfortable with topical numbing, and with minimal down-time. After treatment, you may have mild redness and swelling lasting 1-3 days. Often these effects resolve quickly and you can return to your activities the same day. Patients notice beautiful results after only one treatment, though ultimate results are often after 3 treatments on average. Results are long-lasting yet still subject to the process of aging, and maintenance would be one touch-up treatment every 6-12 months.
Opus Plasma™ results are as good if not better than CO2 with much more versatility in how light or aggressive we want to treat each specific patient, adjusting the plasma and energy levels to address each unique skin concern.
At Allurant Dr. Kat and the team are always looking to stay up to date with the latest technology to bring the best treatment options to our patients. Opus Plasma™ is one such new and revolutionary way to turn back the clock for your skin.
