What is PDO?

PDO threads are safe & effective dissolvable suture made from a complex sugar called PDO, polydioxanone. With a decade worth of safety track record in surgery, PDO is a safe raw material that has been used for orthopedic and cardiovascular surgery for wound closure.

Starting 2004, PDO’s use has evolved so that it is applied for minimally invasive procedure such as for soft tissue approximation in PDO’s procedures.  Additionally, PDO’s safety is further validated from its 510(k) clearance from the FDA and is currently being used in 14 other countries worldwide.

How do I know if I am a good candidate for PDO?

 

For the most optimal results, the ideal candidate should have a skin layer that is not too thin or too thick and not extremely uneven. The skin should be thin enough so PDO can make a visible difference and thick enough so the threads are not too close to the surface of the skin. One way to check before a consultation with your provider is to lay down on your back and see if you like the way your face looks, as it can be a good indicator of how effective PDO can be. Lastly, please consult with the physician if you are an optimal candidate for Procedure.

How old do I have to be?

PDO is recommended for both women and men ages 30-50+ who experience moderate sagging in the midface, jowls, nasolabial folds, neck, and eyebrows. Our threads provide two way care: patients may also experience improvement in skin texture, fine lines, and elasticity from collagen stimulation and neovascularization which will help soften wrinkles and fine lines and give the skin an overall firmer and tighter look. However, the procedure is also great for younger patients who are looking to define their jawlines with sharper V-lines and obtain a more snatched and contoured facial structure or fix droopy eyelids.
